Remembering "Ty" with Love... Youa "Ty" Lor, age 33, formerly of Ephrata, moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, three weeks ago and was killed Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, during the robbery of his car. A son of Lia Yang, Banning, CA, and the late Ju Thao Lor, he was the husband of Katie (Xiong) Lor. A welder, he had a passion for working with cars and was known for his artistic talents. Also surviving are 4 children, Kamry, Kara, Kanye and Kamelo Lor, all at home; step-father, Steve Her, Banning, CA; Grandmother, Kia Vang, Ephrata, PA; sister, Mai Tong Lor, Twin Cities, MN; and brothers, David Lor, Ephrata, PA; Alee Jouthao and Peter Lor, both of the Twin Cities, MN. Viewings Funeral Service... Viewing and services will be held Friday Saturday, Sept. 24 25, from 6-8 PM; and Sunday, Sept. 26, from 6-9 PM. The funeral service will begin at 9 AM, Monday, Sept. 27, all from Good Funeral Home, 34-38 North Reamstown Road , Reamstown , PA 17567 . Burial will follow in Voganville Cemetery, Earl Township, Lancaster County, PA. A Letter from Peter Lor: With everything going on in the news it was once again getting close to remembering those who died on September 11th 2001 at the World Trade Center in New York. I was thinking back to how senseless and tragic where the lives lost that day, but little did I realize that 2 days before September 11th. I would have my own terrible and sad memories to remember. My cries of anguish and sorrow coupled with the tears that I shed, resonated with those who had lost loved ones on September 11th 2001. In the end it would leave us with a burning question in our minds asking "Why?" The answers to my question was only a deep and profound sadness knowing that you've lost someone dear and near to your heart, someone who you could always count on, someone who's voice you will never hear again. Along with this sadness were an empty whole in my heart, and a void in my life. My brother, Youa "Ty" Lor, was brutally and tragically murdered on September 9, 2010. The act of murder transcends all races, genders and social economic status and it's always tragic and senseless. For those who are left behind, murder leaves us wondering why our loved ones were taken away; unanswered questions and loneliness in our lives from the theft of loved ones. The reasoning for those who commit murder is ludicrous and unjustifiable. In my brother's case, he was murdered so the killer could strip parts from my brother's car and use them in the killer's own car. My brother recently moved to the twin cities from Lancaster, PA. He had been unemployed for the last 2 years, unable to find a stable job. He moved to MN in hopes providing for his family and starting over again. He planned to pursue his American Dream. My brother planned to buy, fix and sell used cars from auctions in hopes of turning a profit. To help jump start this dream my brother listed his Nissan 350z on craigslist hoping to sell it. Like all American Dreams the one universal reason behind it is to provide for the ones we love. Sadly, my brother's dream ended at the barrel of a 40 caliber hand gun. My brother has and will always be a man who loved his family first. His wife and children were his life. You could tell in how he talked about his family or when he played with his kids. You knew right away that this was the joy of his life. It was a joy to see someone who loved his family as much as I love my own family. Now with his passing, who will provide for his family? Having been the sole provider for his family, I wonder how they will cope now. I think about little Melo, Kanye, Kamry, Kara and especially my sister-in-law Katie. I think about the hardships that they will face now, like having to bury a father and husband and the cost associated with it. They now have to deal with the fact that my brother is no longer here to provide the fatherly advice or strong back needed when life gets tough. I think about the hardships that Katie will face now, of having to be both mother and father and the hardships of providing for a family of 5 by herself. I've setup a Benefit Fund at Western Bank for his family. I hope that this fund will help my brother's family by allowing them time to heal and to grieve, most importantly of just being a family. I hope that the fund will allow them to not worry about how the bills will be paid, or how they will buy the food needed for the family and to do the necessary things in life that will allow them to recover and cope with this tragic death. Most importantly after the bills are paid, I hope there will be money left so we can use it to setup a trust fund for my brother's kids. A little parting legacy from him to them and a reminder that even though their father is no longer here to care for them, there are many out there who share their love, hurt, anger and loss.
