Whisper Erin Flores Obituary (1982 - 2022)

Whisper Erin Flores, 39, of San Antonio, passed away on January 22, 2022, into the arms of the Lord. Services will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Cornerstone Church. Whisper was born on June 1, 1982 in San Antonio to Dee Frymire and Alex Flores. She was the middle child between sister Misty and brother Jacob. She was a bold, adventurous child with a spunky, loving spirit. Whisper's creativity and aptitudes in the arts were revealed at a young age. She could sing melody and harmony, in perfect rhythm, before school age. She sang country and Southern gospel music with her grandparents' family band. She picked up the guitar as a child, and was not afraid to sing in front of a crowd. Whisper's aptitude for painting and drawing was beyond her years. By the age of 12, she had learned multiple painting techniques, including the difficult use of a painting knife. She could easily sketch and draw, using multiple tools. Whisper was a prolific writer of poems and songs, and that talent would grow as she became an adult. As a young woman, Whisper got the travel bug. She took college courses in Seattle, climbed mountains in Guatemala, walked the cobbled streets of London, relaxed in the forests of North Carolina, and loved New York and Los Angeles. One of her favorite cities was Austin, Texas, where she lived for many years. She loved making music with her friends, and often performed live in the vibrant Austin music scene. Whisper appreciated many genres of music - jazz, folk, rock, alternative, big band, classical, you name it. She listened to all kinds of artists, from Patty Griffin, Muse, Elvis Presley, to Gavin DeGraw. She was an expert on up-and-coming bands. She also wrote and recorded many original songs, often with friends. Whisper worked in different industries over the years: hotels, food & beverage, client services, and real estate. Invariably, all were people-facing jobs, for she could develop a rapport easily. Whisper was a true beauty, but it was her inner vibrance, openness and uniqueness that attracted people. She was witty, bold, humble, compassionate, and a loving friend to so many. She deeply cared for people who were hurting or struggling. She refused to judge anyone. She saw the best in people. The sheer number of friends she had, from all over the world, was a testament to her light and love. Whisper will be forever missed and loved dearly by so many family and friends. Whisper was preceded in death by her father, Alex G. Flores; and her grandfathers, Alex S. Flores and Jody Frymire. Whisper is survived by her mother Dee Frymire Mahan (stepfather Rusty); her sister Misty Flores Quinn (brother-in-law Scott, nephews Ransom & Alex); her brother Jacob Flores (partner Taylor Tillinghast); her grandmothers, Irma Flores and Fay Frymire; and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and extended family.
