Virgil Henry

Carrollton, Georgia

Virgil Ray Henry, age 80, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025. He was born on October 21, 1944, in Cullman, Alabama, the son of the late Dave Denney Henry and Inez Pearl Collins Henry.

After graduating from West Georgia College in 1972 with a degree in Business Administration, Virgil went on to build a long and successful career in accounting. Over the years, he worked with several companies both locally and nationally, earning a reputation for his honesty, wisdom, and quiet strength. He concluded his career as Chief Financial Officer of The John Hardy Group in Atlanta, where he served faithfully for more than 25 years. Known for his integrity and steady leadership, Virgil was deeply respected and loved by his colleagues, many of whom became lifelong friends.

Virgil’s life was grounded in faith, family, and love for his community. A devoted member of Mount Holly Church, he lived out his faith daily through kindness, humility, and generosity. Above all else, he cherished his family. His beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He and his wife, Faye, shared 60 beautiful years, building a lifetime of memories filled with laughter, love, and unwavering devotion.

Virgil was a true Southern gentleman with a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life: Friday night lights, family dinners, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Carrollton Trojans and the Alabama Crimson Tide. His warm smile, sense of humor, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Brenda “Faye” Smith Henry; children, Angie Henry Jiles, Amanda Henry, and Anthony “Tony” Henry; grandchildren and their spouses, Chris & Rachel Jiles, Kevin Jiles & Tyler Solomon, Cody Hewett, Skyler Hewett, Jacob Turner, and Drake Henry; great-grandchildren, Caden Jiles, Carter Jiles, Greyson Beau Jiles, and Christian Jiles; sister, Sandra Henry Frost; and brother and sister-in-law, Harold & Judy Henry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister and his sister, Susan Henry Warren.

The family will receive friends at Mount Holly Church on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

A service to honor and celebrate Virgil’s life will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at Mount Holly Church, with Pastor Jeff Maxwell and Pastor Evett Guyton officiating. Interment will follow at Carroll Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will include Marcus Smith, Shane Smith, Mark Henry, Michael Smith, and Chase Smith.
