Mr. Tommy Joe Malone, age 84, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Tommy was born on May 9, 1940, in Farmerville, Louisiana, the son of the late Roy Malone Sr. and Pauline Ward Taylor.
Tommy’s leadership skills shone early in high school, as he achieved both Eagle Scout and 4-H President for the state of Louisiana. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University, where he pledged Phi Kappa Alpha. Tommy pursued higher education, attaining a law degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law. This strong development of leadership laid the foundation for his distinguished career as a Land Acquisition Agent. For over 50 years, he specialized in acquiring land for right-of-way utilities, navigating the complexities of property negotiations with professionalism and integrity.
A man of deep faith, Tommy considered his relationship with the Lord to be the cornerstone of his life. His spiritual journey was marked by his longstanding and active membership at the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, where he was well-respected and beloved by the congregation. He found joy and purpose in participating in mission trips, where he could extend a helping hand to those in need both locally and beyond. Every Monday morning, Tommy looked forward to his prayer breakfast, where he gathered with a group of friends to strengthen their bonds and lift each other up in faith. His commitment to serving others was further exemplified through his involvement with the Open Hands United Christian Ministry, an organization dedicated to helping those facing hardship in our community.
Family was a central focus in Tommy's life, and he cherished the moments spent with his loved ones. He greatly enjoyed fishing and golfing with his grandchildren, relishing the opportunity to share his passion for these activities while creating lasting memories. In addition to outdoor adventures, Tommy loved engaging in spirited board games and playing cards, which often brought laughter and bonding to family and friend gatherings.
Travel was another significant aspect of Tommy's life. With his wife, Helen, by his side, he eagerly explored various destinations, creating unforgettable experiences with both friends and family along the way. Whether it was a weekend getaway or an extended journey, Tommy embraced every opportunity to discover new places and make cherished memories together.
