Mr. Thomas Wilburn McCarter Obituary (1933

Mr. Thomas Wilburn McCarter, 81, passed away on September 2, 2014 at his residence in West Point. Mr. Wilburn was born August 31, 1933, in the Dancy Community in Webster County the son of the late Arthur Noel and Birdie Mae Martin McCarter. He was an avid Mississippi State University Football fan that never met a stranger. He was an United States Army Veteran, where he was a mail clerk. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 40 years as a Rural Mail Carrier working out of the Pheba Post Office. He was a member of West End Baptist Church. He married Mary Elizabeth Richardson McCarter on July 28, 1961, in Columbus and she passed away February 14, 2007. Funeral services will be September 5, 2014, at 10:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Terry Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Pheba Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Two Daughters, Carey Elizabeth McCarter and Suzan McCarter Hawkins (Frank); One Grandson: Thomas Christopher McCarter; One Step-Grandson: Jacob Hawkins; Brother-in-Law: Richard Carey Richardson,III (Dawn) all of West Point; and Nephew: Brian Carey Richardson of Orlando, FL. Pallbearers will be Alan Elmore, Brother Burns, Russell Hawkins, Curt Kisner, Bill Cox, and Sonny Sizemore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edwin Humphries, Tommy Sizemore, Bob Washington, Eddie Strickland, James E. “Sonny” Ming, Dr. T.N. Braddock, Dr. Andrew Wartak, Dr. Robert L. Howland, Jr., The Nurses and Staff of Gentiva Hospice, and all of the Nurses, Staff, and Residents of Waverly Care Home. Memorials may be made to Pheba Cemetery Fund, C/O Mrs. Becky McNeel, Post Office Box 5, Pheba, MS 39755 or to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Visitation will be Thursday 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home.
