Talena Penn Obituary (1981 - 2025)

On May 19, 1981, Talena was welcomed into this world by John Penn and Sharon Cook (nee Jorgenson) and by sister, Tisha. Talena lived in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area attending part of elementary school in Catoosa, Oklahoma. In 1987, she became the adopted daughter of Beverly Penn. When the family moved to southeastern Oklahoma, she completed her education and graduated as salutatorian of her class. Talena joined the Air Force after graduation. She served in Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. She served in Air Mission Control and was honorably discharged. After leaving the Air Force, she attended a school to become a veterinarian technician. She later changed course to return to Air Traffic Control/Dispatch. She joined Martinaire Airlines in Texas and worked in the flight dispatch over the course of fifteen years, ultimately elevating to Director of Flight Operations. Talena also had a great love of all animals. In her spare time, she served on board of an organization that rescued and re-homed dogs and cats. She served as a foster mom to rescue many animals. She had a great passion for this work, acquiring a few of her own permanent brood. Talena was preceded in death by her sister, Tisha Graham: paternal and maternal grandparents, Tom and Jane Penn; Mel and Joyce Jorgenson. She is survived by parents John and Sharrie Penn, Beverly Penn; sister Sara Penn; nephew Hunter Graham; and fur-babies Mac, Bonnie, Pancake, Norbi and Binx; close friend, Mary Webb; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and the many foster animals she helped re-home. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to a local rescue organization near you or to the League of Animal Protectors rescue organization. At this time, no services will be held.
