Shirley Nelson

Shirley A. Nelson, 79, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. She was born on October 16, 1945, in Troup County, Georgia, to the late William E. Adams and Sula Procter Adams.

Shirley and her husband, Lawrence, operated Bumper to Bumper Car Care Center and Westside Auto Sales together for over two decades, establishing a reputation for excellence and trust within their community. As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she cherished her family and often took pride in baking and decorating elaborate birthday cakes—especially her beloved pound cakes—that became a special tradition for her grandchildren's celebrations. Beyond her culinary talents, Shirley was known for her warm spirit and unwavering support; she always provided thoughtful encouragement and sage advice to those around her. She will leave a lasting legacy and will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Nelson, and her sisters, Mary Brown, Frances Walker, and Evelyn Noles.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Selena Nelson; her grandchildren, Coty Nelson, Cain and Elizabeth Nelson, and Madison Victoria Haynie; her great-grandchildren, Marliee Kate Haynie, Haiden Nelson, and Emmett Nelson; her sister, Ruth Jordan; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 12:00 noon until 1:30 PM.

A graveside service will be held to honor and celebrate her life at Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Keith Jiles officiating.
