Mr. Scottie Brewer, Jr. Obituary (1944

Mr. Scottie Brewer, Jr., 79, passed away on June 30, 2024, at the West Point Community Living Center in West Point. Scottie was born on July 3, 1944, in Pheba, to the late N. S. Brewer, Sr. and Myrtis Brewer. Scottie married the love of his life, Frances Roberts Brewer, in 1964. She predeceased him on August 23, 2005. Scottie was a retired mechanic, having worked many years at Sunbeam Bread in West Point. He loved old cars and music. He spent many years playing in bands where he played the bass. Scottie also got in to auctions after retirement. He loved buying and selling stuff. If you ever stopped at the corner of Highway 50 and 46, you met Scottie and he probably sold you something. He was a devoted Christian of the Baptist faith and he was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, with the most loving heart. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deana Brewer, a son, Byron Brewer, a great-grandson, Nicholas Dean Coggins, three sisters, Billy Sue Walker, Gloria Dean Brown, and Jewel Brewer, and one brother, L. D. Brewer. Visitation will be on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 9:00-10:00 A.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kendall Pickens officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery in Pheba. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include three grandchildren: Brooke Brewer, Colby Pennington (Megin), both of West Point, and Dallas Pennington (Alicia) of Columbus: seven grandchildren: Jackson Coggins, Braydon Pennington, Angelina Coggins, Kaelyn Pennington, Waylon Pennington, all of West Point and Denver and Adalyn Pennington, both of Columbus: one brother, Franklin Brewer (Kathy) of Pheba, a brother-in-law, Leon Walker of Pheba, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Pallbearers will be Nick Walker, Dally Moon, Jackson Coggins, Braydon Pennington, Walker Ward, and Darryl Pennington. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nurses and Staff of West Point Community Living Center in West Point.
