Mrs. Sarah Hodnett Golson Obituary (1935

Mrs. Sarah Helen Hodnett Golson, 80, passed away on May 23, 2016, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. She was born October 9, 1935, in Montpelier, the daughter of the late Herman Dewitt and Orene Andrews Hodnett. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a Lab Worker at Mississippi State University, working in the Boll Weevil Lab. She also worked as a Nurses Assistant at Ivy Memorial Hospital. She was an avid seamstress, a great cook and rock collector. She loved her family and centered her life caring for others. She received the Magnolia Pendant for her service in supporting her husband's military service. She married Jack Edward Golson on January 23, 1953, in Clay County, and they were married for 63 years. He passed away May 23, 2016. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by Son-In-Law, Bobby Brown, Two Sisters: Dena Coggins and Mildred Pauline Hodnett and Three Brothers: Floyd Roscoe, Dewitt and Marion "Mac" Hodnett. A Celebration of Life for both she and Mr. Jack will be held jointly Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charlie Whitney officiating and assisted by Reverend Jason Middleton. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Two Daughters, Sharon G. Williams (Danny) of Columbus, and Anita G. Brown of West Point: Four Grandchildren; Cory Williams (Becky) of Columbus: Lacey Breen (Joseph "Dallas") of Starkville: Dustin Ray (Lesley) of Amory: and Kirby Ray of West Point: Three Great-Grandchildren; Zoe Williams of Columbus: Trevan Ray of Amory: and Cayden Breen of Starkville: and One sister, Rena Breland (Dale) of Tupelo. Pallbearers will be Christopher Hodnett, Charlie Golson, Tommy Hodnett, Eddie Richards, Steve Hodnett, Daniel Hodnett, Shannon Mills, Rodney Hodnett, Jon Pernell, and Daniel Pernell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie Armstrong, Milton Kendrick, Greg Hodnett, Justin Brown, and Jerry Coggins, members of the 223rd Engineering Battalion of the Mississippi Army National Guard, Former Co-Workers at Ellis Steel, Former Co-Workers at Babcock and Wilcox, Dr. Andrew Wartak, Amy Hawkins, and the Nurses and Staff of North Mississippi Medical Center Home Health Care.
