Samuel Edwards Jones, Jr Obituary (1950

Samuel Edward Jones, Jr., 61, Michigan City, Indiana was affectionately known as "Sam" departed this life in the comfort of his home. Funeral service will be at noon, Saturday, October 29, 2011 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie L. Jenkins, officiating. Viewing will start at 11am until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Sam was born January 24, 1950 in Michigan City, to the late Samuel Edwards Jones Sr. and Annie Goodwin-Jones. He graduated from Elston Senoir High School. He worked at Arnold Tate, Josam, and Weil McLain. He was a great basketball player, a great cook and a great friend. He loved fast cars, fast women and partying at the garage! Sam leaves to cherish his fond memories two children, Kalvon Sr., (Janice) Hawkins and La'Nazjha Jones; one sister, Shelia Valencia Holtz; one brother Orlando Jones; two grandchildren, Kalvon Jr. and Kenyatta Hawkins; two special aunts Gloria Wright and Effie Neal; two special uncles Eugene 'Buck" Wright and Roy Wayne Goodwin; two special nieces Vanessa and Valonte' Jones; a special nephew Vernard Jones, special family The Bostics; the members of the ODC; his loving dog Buddy; special lady friends and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Jones and Ricardo Jones and one granddaughter, NeKeisha Hawkins.
