Ruth Hoover Obituary (1938

Jane Wagoner Hoover went to heaven to live with her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 31, 2021. Born July 12, 1938 in Winston-Salem, NC to Mr. & Mrs. Robert Spencer Wagoner, she grew up there with her mother and sister after her father passed away early in her life. Some of her happiest years were spent at Meredith College with her roommates who would remain her lifelong friends. Passionate about education, after college she taught English & history to honors students in Charlotte. It was at a wedding reception where Jane caught the eye & captured the heart of a dashing Tar Heel, Bob Hoover. A year later they were married & soon relocated to Dallas, TX where they raised their three children. The consummate mother, she wholeheartedly supported her children with their school projects and activities, never missing the opportunity to help them excel and reach their goals. Jane was actively involved in both charitable and community organizations for years including: Women's Guild of United Cerebral Palsy, a Highland Park Presbyterian Church Women’s Circle, DAR & Dallas Woman’s Club, to name a few. An enthusiast of antiques & travel, she incorporated her love for both into her trips abroad where she found “treasures” to sell in her antique business. Jane & Bob thoroughly delighted in touring several countries over the years but most enjoyable were the vacations and celebrations with all generations of her family. Affectionately known as Grandmommie, she devoted herself to her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Jane will always be remembered for her beautiful & generous heart and perhaps most of all, for her love and support of her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bob, as well as her children and grandchildren: Catharine, Bard (& Kathryn), Janie (& Ben) and her five grandsons. A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Friday, August 13th, at 1:00pm at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
