Royce Verrier Obituary (2023)

Royce T. Verrier, age 77, of Chilton, died on June 23, 2023, at The Auberge at Oak Village in Menominee Falls. He was born July 30, 1945, son of the late Lawrence and Mildred Verrier. After high school he joined the Army and bravely served in Vietnam. On February 6, 1993, he married Susan Redig at Pilgrim UCC in Grafton. Royce loved his country. He was very patriotic and celebrated every Veterans Day, attending every parade. He was recognized for his service with the opportunity to join fellow veterans on the Honor Flight to our nation’s capitol. Royce liked spending his free time outside gardening, sitting near a campfire, having a cigarette with his buddy, Biscuit, or even just enjoying the simple pleasure of coloring. He was always up for trying his luck at casinos and he enjoyed playing bingo at the memory care center. Royce loved the Jerry Schneider Polka Band and went to their shows whenever he could. He had a great sense of humor and loved cracking a joke. Royce met Susan when they worked at the same nursing home. He was helping out at the local funeral home and he asked her to help him pick out a new suit. They hit it off and she has been by his side ever since. He always liked taking her on dates to go out to eat and catch a movie. Royce is survived by his wife, Susan; two daughters: Hannah Verrier and Melissa Gerena; two grandchildren: Jesse and Austin; two great-grandchildren: Jayden and Xander; a brother: Roger Verrier; in-laws: Candis (Mike) Daniels, Mark (Kathy) Redig, Michael Redig, Daniel (Carrie) Redig, and Renee Verrier; and many nieces and nephews. Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mildred; siblings: Judith (John) Grieger, Ronald Verrier, and Richard Verrier; in-laws: Eugene and Janice Redig; and a brother-in-law: Keith Donald Redig. Private services are being planned at this time. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in the name of Royce Verrier.
