Marlene Ritter Obituary (1936 - 2022)

Marlene Ruth (Griewahn) Ritter, Beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed on September 7th 2022 in Broomfield, Colorado at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold “Bud” Ritter and parents; Kenneth and Alice Griewahn. Marlene is survived by her children; Wendy (Wayne) and Monte (Patricia), her sister; Rosalee Griewahn, Grand Children; Breanna (Cody), Garth (Miriam), Grant (Ashley), and Lauren as well as Great Grand Children; Weston, Lainey, Reece, Collins, Reid, Quinn, Brooke and Nash. Marlene was born January 15, 1936 in Jackson Michigan, where she and her younger sister Rosalee grew up. Standing nearly 6 feet tall, Marlene learned to sew as there were no tall girl clothes off the rack. She was in a sewing class show her senior year of high school. The last segment of the show featured only Marlene’s creations. She went on to sew her own wedding gown, as well as bridesmaids and flower girl dresses. She could sew, create and knit beautifully. Marlene was very outgoing and usually had a part in every high school play. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1954. She married Harold “Bud” Ritter on July 17th, 1954 at the Trinity Luthern Church in Jackson, Michigan. Bud and Marlene were introduced to one another by one of their high school teachers because of their height (Bud stood 6’7”). They were partners in running DEMERI Tool Co, a precision machine shop specializing in aerospace components. They raised two children, Wendy born in 1957 and Monte born in 1959. They were an active family who loved to be out on the water, travel, fish and were active in their community. Marlene lost Bud too soon in 1993. Marlene spent the remainder of her life in Michigan, Florida and Colorado. She loved to dance, scuba dive, play golf, socialize, play games, sail, and music “Rock n’ Roll!.”. She was very loved and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. “The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms.” Deuteronomy 33:27
