Mario Joseph D'Errico Obituary (1919

Mario J. D"Errico, age 92 passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on November 10, 1911, he was the son of Italian immigrants Anthony and Julia D"Errico. He joined the navy just prior to World War II and while stationed in Quantico, VA, he met his beloved wife of almost 70 years, Della Anderson D"Errico. He served in the South Pacific during the war and upon his discharge, he and Della moved to Texas where he received a degree from Texas A & I College in Kingsville, Texas. He taught at Pharr San Juan Alamo High School for several years and then moved his young family to San Antonio where they lived for many years while he worked as a pharmaceutical salesman for Ayerst Laboratories. In recent years he and his wife have enjoyed living at Morningside Ministries Menger Springs in Boerne where he sang in the choir, hosted old time radio shows, wrote plays and acted in the Reader"s Theater group. Preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters, Mr. D"Errico is survived by his loving wife, Della; 4 children Paul D"Errico & wife Suzanne, Robert D"Errico & wife Vicki, Rachel Garrison & husband David, and Barbara Whitaker & husband Wade. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and 2 sisters, Claire King and Velma DeVito. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011, 3:00 PM at Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs.
