Marie McRae Dean

Marie McRae Dean, 78, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 30, 2024. She was born on March 31, 1946, in Carrollton, Georgia, the daughter of the late C.L. McRae and Annie Mae Strickland McRae.

Marie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of everyone around her. She worked countless hours as a seamstress at Sewell’s Manufacturing Company and at Chalk Line. Marie’s second career began at Big Lots as a store clerk, where she made lasting friendships with her co- workers and customers. Marie's kindness, vibrant spirit, and passion for life will always be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Ray Dean; sisters, Virginia Brewer, Lois Faulkner, and Shirley Ann Mashburn; and brother, Raymond McRae.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her children, Sheila & Tim Dingler and Keith Dean; sister, Reba Langley; best friend, Tammy Shumake; grandchildren, Brian & Matt Reyher, Tyler Richie, and Callie & Justin Jordan; and four great-granddaughters.

A funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate Mrs. Marie’s life on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Bro. Brantley Fernander and Bro. Bobby Joe Driver officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens with Tony Langley, Mark Langley, Craig Morrow, Shawn Morrow, Robert Crews, and Justin Jordan serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
