Kathy Ann Shugart

Carrollton, Georgia

With heavy hearts, we share that Kathy Ann Medlock Shugart left this world on December 17, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on April 27, 1953, in Carrollton, Georgia, Kathy grew into a woman whose kindness and generosity left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Kathy was a woman whose life was defined by love, devotion, and the quiet strength found in caring for others. A graduate of Villa Rica High School, Kathy carried with her the values of home, family, and community throughout her life.

Above all else, Kathy cherished her roles as a wife, mother, daughter, and friend. Her greatest accomplishment—and the joy of her life—was being a devoted mother and homemaker. She found deep fulfillment in creating a warm, welcoming home where love was always present and family was always first.

Kathy had a special fondness for the simple pleasures of life. She loved working in her yard and tending to her garden, finding peace and purpose in nurturing growing plants and flowers. Those who knew her best knew that her true gift was loving on her family—offering comfort, care, and unwavering support in ways both big and small.

She carried in her heart a lasting love for her husband, whom she missed dearly since his passing 15 years ago. Their bond remained a meaningful part of her life and story.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William “Billy” Shugart; her father, Roy Medlock; and her brother, Ronnie Medlock.

Kathy is survived by her mother, Dorothy Morrow Medlock; her daughters, Amy Waldrep of Carrollton, and Rachel Clark (Bo) of Villa Rica; grandchildren, Jacob Waldrep, Tristan Sharpton, Joshua Waldrep, Jonathan Waldrep, and Westin Clark; and great-grandchildren, Lilly Waldrep, Griphon Waldrep, and Easton Sharpton.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Kathy’s life will be held in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jerome Mitchell and Pastor Mike Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
