What is a funny story about Kathleen?

"In the UK we don't have much sun, so whilst in California we bask in the beautiful sunshine. I remember once when I visited with my friend in the 90, we spent the day sunbathing by the pool opposite her house. Periodically she would shout "get out of the Sun " from a different window in the house. What was funny was that she was cooking dinner at the same time and image the reaction from the passersby as she forgot she had a carving knife in her hand whilst waving her arms at us. She loved this storey and we've reminisced about the day, up until recently..."

What is John's favorite story of Kathleen?

"As university students in the 1980s we used to spend our summers working and travelling in America and always seemed to end up at Angela’s in Menlo Park when we were short of cash, hungry and in need of a bed. She was always so kind to us, feeding us, putting us up with a bed at hers or her friends; and on one occasion taking us to the local supermarket to buy us all new trainers as the ones we were wearing were pretty tatty! My friends and I always remembered that trip to the supermarket- such an unexpected act of kindness… "

What is John's earliest memory of Kathleen?

"I remember meeting ‘Auntie Angela’ as a 4 or 5 year old when she came to visit us in England in the mid-60s. I remember thinking how softly spoken this lady was, and how exciting that she’d come all the way from America to see us - and most exciting she gave me some chewing gum which we weren’t normally allowed as kids. She took me to feed the ducks on our local fish pond; something I’d never done before and something we always remembered when ever we subsequently met - it was a special moment we shared and never forgot."
