Katharine Skinner-Klee Obituary (1927

Katharine Eugenia Emmons Skinner-Klee, also known as Kate and Guima, passed from this life on November 6, 2019 in Boerne, Texas to the deepest bereavement of all who knew her. Born in Sandusky, OH on January 29, 1927, Kate graduated in Economics from Wells College, and went on to marry Alex Skinner-Klee on May 10, 1950. They had three children together, living in Puerto Rico, New Jersey, and Guadalajara before settling in Boerne in the early 1980's.Devoted to genealogy, Kate traveled extensively to research family history, serving as President of the Genealogical Society of Kendall County from '86-'87 and '95-'98. She was a Daughter of the American Revolution and a Daughter of Union Veterans of the Civil War. A very active citizen of Boerne, Kate was a founding director of the Agricultural Heritage Center and Museum, participated in courthouse and library archiving, a monthly Reading Club, and founded the Mystery Book Club. Her wonderful stories and intellect will be profoundly missed.She is survived by her daughters Elena Skinner-Klee and Susan S-K Hartin, son Alex Skinner-Klee, Jr. and wife Holly, and grandchildren Daniel Hartin, Erika Garretsen Davis and Kendall Skinner-Klee, as well as extended family and dear friends. Kate is proceeded in death by her husband, parents, sister, and granddaughter Heidi Lane Garretsen. A memorial service will be held from 1 - 3 p.m. on November 16, 2019 at Holt & Holt Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Patrick Heath Public Library or the Genealogical Society of Kendall County.
