Mr. John Richard Cox Obituary (1929

Mr. John Richard Cox, 86, passed away on October 17, 2015, at Brookwood Select Specialty Hospital in Birmingham. Mr. John Richard Cox was born August 9, 1929, in Glen Allan, Mississippi. He was the son of the late Harold Erasmus and Zella Wayne VanDevender Cox. Richard was employed as the accountant for Borderline Oil Company in Greenville. He was an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Greenville and was a past president of the Greenville Lions Club. Richard was also a veteran of the United States Army and served his country in the Korean War. He attended Mississippi State University and remained a loyal Bulldog fan for the rest of his life. Richard never missed listening to MSU football and baseball radio broadcasts and recently became a huge fan of listening to the Starkville Academy Volunteers football broadcasts on Friday nights. Dorothy White Holland and Richard were married on October 21, 1953, in West Point. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. from Greenwood Cemetery in West Point with the Reverend Chip Stevens officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Wife Dorothy White Holland Cox of Starkville; Two Daughters, Amanda Grimm of Dallas, TX and Elaine Cox of Birmingham, AL; Son, Holland Cox (Charlotte) of Starkville; Five Grandchildren; Dana Burke of Dallas, TX, Susannah Cox, Sam Cox, Charlie Cox, and Beau Cox all of Starkville; and Two Great Grandsons: Keagan Burke and Sawyer Grimm both of Dallas, TX; Sister, Dorothy Van Cox Watson of Memphis, TN and a number of nieces and nephews.
