Gail Louise Shelton was born April 24, 1969 to Joslyn Coleman Shelton and the late Clarence Edward Shelton. She was baptized in the Fall of 1978 and became a member of the Watch Tower Baptist Church. She was a member of the Youth Choir and the Usher Board. Gail loved school. She won the National Spelling Bee for the Richmond News Leader on October 18, 1982 and again on June 1, 1983. She graduated from Louisa County High School with the class of 1988. She studied Nursing and Medical Billing and Coding at Fortis College in Richmond, VA. During her working career, she worked for Food Lion (Louisa VA), Tri-Dim (Louisa VA) and Virginia Homes (Richmond VA). Gail never met a stranger. She loved to talk and would conversate on any subject. You never had to worry about carrying the conversation when she was around because she had that covered. Gail is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Edward Shelton and her sister, Claudia Diane Shelton. She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother Joslyn Shelton (Mineral, VA), one brother, Clarence Shelton (Raleigh, NC), two sisters, her twin Dale Shelton (Indianapolis, IN) and Wendy Shelton (Jonesboro, GA) and two nieces, Cheyenne Shelton (Raleigh, NC) and Natalya Shelton (Jonesboro, GA) She also leaves to cherish her memories, nine uncles, Charlie Shelton (Gertrude), Henry Shelton, David Shelton (Emma) of Richmond, VA, Lionel Wood (Martha) of Bumpass VA, Vernon Wood (Rebecca), George Shelton, and Gerald Coleman of Mineral, VA; James Coleman and Charles Coleman of Washington DC; Eleven aunts, Sarah Smith (Harry Sr.), Louise Langhorne (Walter Sr.), Doris Tomes of Louisa, VA, Margie Shelton (Timothy Sr.), Eva Shelton, and Jean Coleman-Gaines of Mineral, VA, Oneida Mae Taylor (Henry), Joyce Johnson (Anthony) of Chesterfield, VA, Arlean Shelton of Richmond, VA, Mary Coleman of Charlottesville, VA, and Patrice Jackson (Vernon) of Bumpass, VA; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sun Chapel, D.D. Watson Funeral Home. *Due to COVID 19 restrictions the funeral service is limited to fifty immediate family members. For those in attendance, masks and/or shields must be worn to enter the Sun Chapel. There will be no repass in order to follow social distancing guidelines.
