Evelyn l. Bell

Cleveland, Ohio

Evelyn Louise Bell (née McKissick) was born on November 3, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio, the 10th of 11 children to Preston and Lillian (Green) McKissick. Along with her sisters Frances and Virginia, Evelyn was lovingly raised by her foster parents, Harvey and Alberta Judy. Evelyn received her education through the Cleveland Public School System, attending Audubon Junior High School and Central High School-where she sang in the chorus-before graduating from East High School. Pursuing her passion for nursing, she attended Jane Addams School of Pratical Nursing for her L.P.N. and later earned her R.N. from Cuyahoga Community

College. In 1960, Evelyn met the love of her life, Maurice Bell. They married on May 5, 1962, and together raised two beloved children: Marisa Martina and Maurice Lee Bell II. Evelyn dedicated over 30 years to nursing, working at the Veterans Administration Medical Center for 20 years as an L.P.N. and another 10 years as an R.N., retiring in 1998. Even after retirement, her commitment to caring for others continued, as she worked an additional 10+ years in nursing. Evelyn cherished the outdoors, often hunting and fishing, and loved to travel and spend time with her family. A passionate music entusiast, she especially enjoyed the soulful sounds of the Motown legends, Luther Vandross and Whitney Houston. She was also an avid fan of action and comedy films, and spent many joyful hours playing card games like Solitaire and Spades. Evelyn was an excellent cook and baker, her specialty being German chocolate cake, and bean pie. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice L. Bell I; and all of her siblings: Charles, Dorothy, Alberta, Harold, Ruby, Preston, Thomas J., Frances, Virginia, and David. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Marisa (Bell) Parrotte and Maurice L. Bell II; her grandchildren, Maurice L. Bell Ill, Chalela Evelyn Hill, Ahmad Hill, and Mekhi Parrotte; her great grandchildren, Sunceir D. Bell, Skai Jones, and Ceres A. Bell; and a host of other special family members and friends who loved her dearly. Evelyn's life was a testament to love, strength, and dedication. Her beautiful spirit will continue to live on through all those who knew and loved

her.
