Well, folks, it seems I've finally done it. Evelyn Marie Baker, lovingly known to you all as Evie, has officially retired from the game of life. A game I began on the 20th day of July, 1938 in Boise, ID. After a fantastic run, I left the field on the 21st of September 2021, and now reside in the eternal sunshine of Sarasota, Florida. You know, where I've spent the last 30 years of my life. Just to clear the air, I'd like you to know that I wasn't ready to throw in the towel just yet, but hey, who am I to argue with the referee?\n\nNow, let's not get too gloomy over this. I had a wonderful life, full of laughter, love, and a little bit of mischief. I was a dedicated and ambitious medical doctor during my working years, and let's not forget my numerous awards for quilting. I mean, who else do you know that can stitch a perfect log cabin pattern while diagnosing a common cold? Besides, I was pretty funny, if I do say so myself. My family was my world - more specifically, my wonderful husband Fred, my children Amy, Fred Jr., John, and all my daughters named Sally (you know who you are), and my beautiful granddaughter, Mary. \n\nIn my retirement years, you could find me running marathons - yes, even at 90 - or knitting with my pals at the Sarasota Knitting Club. And let's not forget my faithful canine companions. I loved my dogs just as much as I loved attending hundreds of Taylor Swift concerts. Talk about a courageous mix of hobbies! I also found joy in lending a hand to those in need and singing in the choir, living out my faith in service to others. As Proverbs 31:25 says, "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come." Well, I did enjoy a good laugh.\n\nServices to celebrate my life were held under the direction of Your Funeral Home. We gathered at Wood River Chapel, 403 North Main Street, Hailey, Idaho, 83333 on Saturday, the 22nd of July 2023 at 1:00 pm MST. The gang then moseyed over to Meridian Cemetery, 895 East Franklin Road, Meridian, Idaho, 83642 at 2:30 pm MST for graveside services. For those who missed it, you can catch the replays at https://my.gather.app/remember/evelyn-baker-2021.\n\nIn my absence, I hope my legacy of love, humor, courage, and ambition will continue to live on. I encourage you all to share your favorite stories about me and upload those pictures you've been hiding to my memorial page. After all, I've always said I was the world's best grandmother, and who am I to argue with myself?
