Mr. Paul V. DePhillips Obituary (1967 - 2023)

Paul V. DePhillips of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2023 at the age of 55 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with glioblastoma. Paul is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Andrea P. Bellarosa; son Stephan Lombardi; stepsons Jake and Sean Carey; mother Rosemary DePhillips, father (pre-deceased), Paul S. DePhillips, siblings Jeanine Hughes (Chris), Keith DePhillips (Jennie), Dawn Bacchiochi (Jason), John DePhillips (Jen), James DePhillips (Andrea); many nieces and nephews; and his four beloved dogs Spaz, Izzy, Beanz and Bear. Paul served the Town of Wellesley for 13 years, and at the time of death was the Assistant Superintendent of the Parks & Tree Department. During his tenure, he meticulously tended to the town’s landscaping, walking paths, outdoor natural spaces and built the labyrinth in the center of town. Paul was a loyal friend and colleague to many. On his off days, you would find him in his yard working alongside his wife, going on “adventures” or a “forced march” with the dogs as he affectionately called it. A diehard Patriots and Red Sox fan, Paul would always find time to catch a Red Sox game, and plans revolved around the Patriots games. There was never a dull moment when Paul watched a Pat’s game. His enthusiasm was contagious! An animal lover, Paul supported animal rescues and wanted to save them all. Paul never wanted to “buy” a dog. It was always about rescuing a dog in need of a home. Music was in Paul’s soul and had no musical boundaries – rock, reggae, and even musicals. Music inspired him even on his most difficult days. He would listen endlessly. Paul had a passion for history. He could sit for hours watching history documentaries, movies and reading books. Paul lived and breathed sarcasm. Those who knew him well, knew it was always from a place of love. He had a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh and giggle from the most childish of jokes to the most “refined”. Paul’s life was unfairly cut short, and he will remain in the hearts of all that loved him. Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Paul’s life by gathering in casual attire for a Service of Celebration at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, 207 Washington Street, Wellesley, on Saturday, July 29th at 11:00am followed by a reception at Exhibit “A” Brewery, 81 Morton St., Framingham.
