Claudia DeMore

Carrollton, Georgia

Claudia DeMore’s life was a beautiful reflection of devotion to her faith, her family, and the simple joys that made a house a home. On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the age of 92, she passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

Born on Christmas Day in 1933 in Montgomery, Alabama, Claudia was the daughter of the late Claude T. Wells and Louise O’Neal Wells. Even from the beginning, her life carried a quiet sense of warmth and light, something she would go on to share generously with everyone around her. She graduated from Cordele High School and soon after began building a life centered on love and partnership.

For nearly 74 years, Claudia and her beloved husband, Charles, shared a marriage that stood as a testament to enduring love and commitment. Together, they created a life filled with laughter, faith, and cherished memories. Whether traveling with their church family from Tabernacle Baptist Church, enjoying an afternoon of square dancing, or spending time on the golf course, they found joy in simply being together.

Claudia had a creative spirit that showed itself in the details of her everyday life. She found delight in collecting her beloved blue-and-white dishes, expressing herself through painting, and creating a home that was both welcoming and beautiful. But above all, her greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and attentive mother, a proud grandmother, and a gentle, guiding presence in her great-grandchildren's lives. Her love was steady, generous, and quietly transformative.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband, Charles E. DeMore Sr.; her son and daughter-in-law, Ed and June DeMore; her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Steve Moore; her grandchildren and their spouses, Christie and Michael Waddell, Clay and Melissa DeMore, Hannah Parker, and Lindsay and Rick Lennert; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Grayson Parker, Grady Parker, Cole DeMore, Reid DeMore, Waylon Waddell, Lexi Lennert, and Hawk Lennert. Each of them carries forward a piece of her love and the legacy she so beautifully lived.

A service to celebrate Claudia’s life will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Rev. Mary Lou Grimmett officiating. Her grandson, Clay, will offer words of remembrance, honoring the life and love she so freely gave. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM at the funeral home.

She will be laid to rest at Carroll Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Clay DeMore, Bruce DeMore, Donny DeMore, Michael Waddell, Rick Lennert, and Jimmy Dooley. Her five great-grandsons, along with the members of Mr. Charles’ Sunday School Class, will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Flowers are welcome. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made in Claudia’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, the legacy Claudia leaves behind is one of love, faith, and a life well lived; a story that will continue to be told through the generations she so faithfully nurtured.

Messages of condolence may be shared with the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the DeMore family.
