Chance Smith Obituary (1965 - 2023)

Chance Daron Smith, known affectionately as Chance, was born in Spur, Texas on April 7, 1965, and spent his final years in Beebe, Arkansas. His life was a testament to Mark Twain's words, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." Chance's unwavering determination and hard work paved the way for his success and left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege to know him. Chance was a man of many talents with a spirit as expansive as the landscapes he so meticulously curated throughout his career. His hands, hardened by years of work in construction and landscaping, quietly built the world around him, adding touches of beauty wherever he went. The gardens he sculpted and structures he built were not just displays , but a reflection of his character, filled with depth, resilience, and an unyielding sense of hope. It was not just his occupation but his passion, his way of sharing his vibrant spirit with the world. He was a craftsman in the truest sense, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Chance also had a passion for fishing and was happy to sit for hours with a pole in his hand. Because of this the family request that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to The Texas parks and wild life conservation department on his behalf. Chance was a beloved brother, son and father. He is survived by his daughter Heather Conway, grandson Deven Conway and his three sisters, Serena Smith, Rhonda Gunn, and Colene Dodd as well as numerous family members, who will forever remember his infectious laughter, his kind heart, and the countless memories they shared. Chance was preceded in death by his son Deven Smith and parents, Charlie and Donna Smith, who instilled in him a strong work ethic and a love for life that he carried with him until the end. As we remember Chance, we are reminded of another quote by Mark Twain, "Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." Chance's kindness was a beacon in the lives of many, his memory a testament to a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to those he held dear.
