Carolyn Powell

It is with both sorrow and celebration that we announce the passing of Mrs. Carolyn Ann Huckaba Powell, who peacefully left this world on July 22, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on December 29, 1946, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late James Ollie and Vest Talley Huckaba.

Carolyn was not only a devoted homemaker but also a cherished member of her community and a committed member of Midway Church, where she nurtured her strong relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith guided her through life, instilling these values in her family and friends. Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her. She exemplified the true spirit of compassion and devotion.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 57 years, Aubrey G. Powell of Carrollton, Georgia; her daughter, Letha Certain of Summertown, Tennessee; her son and daughter-in-law, John Adam and Sherry Powell; and her brothers, Danny Huckaba and James Allen Huckaba. Her legacy continues to shine brightly through her grandchildren: Paige Powell, Amber Powell, Sydney Powell, Dalton Certain, and Hannah Certain, who carry forward the love and strength she imparted to them.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Mayberry and Brenda McCarley.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Pastor Barry Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from Noon until the hour of the service.

Though we will miss her dearly, we take comfort in the beautiful memories we have and the legacy of love she leaves behind. Her spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us on our journeys as she did in her own life.
