It is with a heavy heart that I, Anthony Vance, write this farewell to my beloved cat, Angel Vance, who departed from this world on August 26, 2024. Angel was not just a pet, she was a member of our family, a beacon of affection and comfort in our lives. Known for her loving nature and her empathetic soul, Angel was a constant companion, always there to offer a comforting purr or a gentle nudge when it was needed most. As James Herriot once said, "Cats are connoisseurs of comfort," and Angel was indeed a connoisseur, expertly seeking out the coziest spots for her many naps. Angel was an intelligent feline, often surprising us with her intuitive understanding of our moods and her knack for being there when she was needed the most. Her thoughtful nature was evident in her sweet gestures; she would always jump up on the bed as soon as the lights were turned off, curling up close for the night. It was these small, loving moments that made Angel so special. From her earlier years in Ogden to her final year in Farr West, Angel touched the hearts of everyone she met, earning her a special place in our lives and memories. Angel was the embodiment of love and companionship, leaving an indelible mark on my life. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but the memories of her loving purrs and comforting presence will forever warm my heart. As Ernest Hemingway said, "A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not." Angel lived her life with absolute emotional honesty, loving unconditionally and asking for nothing more than our love in return.
