Travis Batterson Obituary (1971 - 2022)

Travis "Hippie" Batterson, age 51, formally of Agency, passed away on November 12, 2022 after a courageous battle against cancer, surrounded by his loved ones. Travis was born September 29, 1971 to Bob and Valerie Batterson. Much of his childhood was spent on the family farm in Agency, making memories with his siblings and cousins. Travis was an amazing athlete in school and was known by many for his long, gorgeous hair. Through much of his life, Travis worked doing concrete and construction work. Travis went on to marry Terri Bloom of Ottumwa, in which they shared 4 wonderful children, they later divorced. He then married Rhonda Sheets, they later divorced. Travis was an avid rock hunter and loved collecting Indian artifacts. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting and being outdoors. Most of all, he loved making precious memories with his dog Hank, children, grandchildren, and friends. Travis is survived by 4 children; Kayla Bloom, Alea Batterson, Jaccob Batterson all of Ottumwa and Paiten Batterson (Tanner) of Austin, Texas. His sister Tracy Hesling (Chas), a brother Darren Batterson (Lisa), both of Ottumwa and a younger sister, Erin Murphy (Frankie) of Terre Haute, Indiana. His grandchildren Noah, Tristian, Addilynn, Jax, Lillian, and Harper. Also, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends of whom he all loved very much. Travis is preceded in death by his son, Stephen Tibbals, his mother and father, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Celebration of Life ceremony is planned and will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his children, to assist with Travis' end of life expenses. All remaining proceeds will be donated to Ridgewood Specialty Care and Care Initiatives hospice. Online condolences may be left for the family at sinnottfuneralhome.com.
